Luau's in Hawaii

Updated: Dec 2, 2022

The Gypsea Traveller is a Hawaii Travel Agency. The Owner, Libbi is a travel agent that lives in Hawaii. she has visited all of the Hawaiian Islands and lives on Oahu. This blog has a ton of recommendations based on first hand experience living in Hawaii.

There are so many Luau's to choose when you visit Hawaii. Below are some of the ones I recommend.

Germaine's Luau

One thing I love about Germaine's Luau is that its right on the ocean! You'll be able to see the sunset before dinner and enjoy the fresh breeze from the ocean. They also have picnic tables as some of their seating that's in the sand. It feels authentic and like you're in Hawaii. They have entertainment, luau food and great drinks. They also offer transportation from Waikiki.

Paradise Cove

Paradise Cove is a really fun luau for families. Pre-covid they had activities like face painting, weaving a headband out of palm leaves, canoe rides and more. They luau is located in Ko'Olina so it's a great luau to attend if you're staying there as you could walk to it. Paradise Cove is also located on the ocean with beautiful sunsets! They also provide transportation from Waikiki.

Chiefs Luau

Chiefs Luau has been very popular with tourists. I have not personally been but many say they've liked it. One thing I don't like about the luau is that it's located at a waterpark and not on the ocean like Germaine's and Paradise Cove. They also offer transportation from Waikiki.

Nutridge Luau

Nutridge Luau has also been getting good reviews lately and offers something different from the other luaus. The luau is more intimate and smaller and focuses on education. The luau is not on the ocean but is in the mountains and has beautiful views of Honolulu. They offer transportation from Waikiki.

Smith's Kauai Luau

Smith's Luau is popular on Kauai. They've been operating for over 50 years. They are known for their fire knife dance.

Auli'i Luau

The Auli'i Luau is at the Sheraton Kauai Resort and Spa. The Luau is located on the ocean. They also have fire knife dancers.

Big Island

Voyagers of the Pacific Luau

This luau is located at the Royal Kona Resort. It overlooks the Kona Bay. The luau features a fiery song and dance all being oceanfront at water's edge. They also have fire knife dancers.

Old Lahaina Luau

The Old Lahaina Luau is one of the more popular luaus on Maui. The luau is oceanfront and outdoors. Every guest at the luau gets a fresh flower lei when they arrive. The menu is different as it includes a 5 course meal.

If you are staying at the Hyatt, Royal Lahaina and Andaz, the resorts also offer a luau that is available to their guests and to the public. This can be nice if you don't want to drive to the Old Lahaina Luau if you plan to drink.
